The manufacturing process of knitting is highly versatile, allowing for entire garments to be made on a single machine at a faster pace compared to weaving. However, this method requires more yarn and ultimately leads to higher material costs. Despite this, knits have the advantage of adapting to body movement and providing added elasticity due to their loop structure. They also offer good insulation through trapping air within their cells, but are not particularly wind or water-resistant. It should be noted that knit fabrics are prone to snagging and may shrink more than woven fabrics.
